Anush Avetisyan is an exciting rising soprano who has “proved to be a gifted singer and interpreter beyond her years.” (German World Magazine) A recent graduate of Yale School of Music, Ms. Avetisyan debuted there as Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte and Gretel in Hänsel and Gretel, and performed Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Waterbury Symphony and Hartford Symphony.
In 2017, Ms. Avetisyan completed her second year as a Gerdine Young Artist at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, where she received a Richard Gaddes Career Award, given to Opera Theatre’s most exceptional early career artists to support continued professional and artistic growth. She was also educated at the prestigious Academy of Vocal Arts, where she received her Artist Diploma, and UCLA. Recent performances include Violetta (La traviata), Musetta and Mimí (La bohème), Despina (Così fan tutte), Elvira (L’Italiana in Algieri), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Kate Pinkerton (Madame Butterfly), Eurydice (Orpheus in the Underworld), and the title character in L’incoronazione di Poppea.
Ms. Avetisyan is a proud First Prize winner of the Inaugural Deborah Voigt International Vocal Competition. A recent semi-finalist in the Dallas Opera Competition, she has also won prizes from the Violetta DuPont Vocal Competition with Opera at Florham, Mario Lanza Competition, New Century Singers Whittier Vocal Scholarship Competition, Mondavi Center Young Artists Competition, Loren L. Zachary Society, Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Palm Springs Opera Guild, and Giulio Gari Foundation.
